Lego The Force Awakens releases new trailer about expanded story & offers exclusive FN-2187 minifig for preorders.
As part of Lego’s May the 4th celebration, they dropped a new trailer for the Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Curiously, this game is set to be released late June, more than six months after the movie release. It seems like a strange decision not to better align the game and movie, however, Lego has a history of working to their own schedule. A tactic which has contributed to the high quality of many of its titles.
Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens has another reason for such a delay. The new game will feature a number of stories not included in the film. These levels are designed to add to the backstory of The Force Awakens and include Rathtar Hunting, a Poe Dameron mission to rescue Admiral Ackbar, exploring Jakku with Lor San Tekka and more. The cast has recorded new dialogue for these added stories, which should serve to keep players immersed in the new Star Wars Universe. A number of new or improved features including new blaster battles, multiplayer building options and space dogfights (this is the year of the Space dogfights). They have also improved the A.I in enemy units, so expect Stormtroopers to call in reinforcements and air support for an added challenge.
The base mechanics of the Lego game remain the same, as players navigate levels breaking up and building Lego structures to solve puzzles to progress through the level. Characters will all fall into groups with unique abilities, drawing on the film for inspiration, to help you navigate the challenges of each mission. Of course, the game will feature Lego’s trademark humor as well.
You can pick up your copy of the expanded Force Awakens story on June 28. It will be available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U, PS3, & Xbox 360. Lego is also offering a deluxe edition featuring a season pass. If you pre-order, you will receive an exclusive Finn FN-2187 Minifigure with purchase.
