Adult Swim’s dysfunctional sci-fi adventurers return for their “darkest year” yet, July 30th.
Yes, the perpetually drunk super genius and his grandson will be back this July for a third season. The all new season will begin July 30th 11:30p ET. If you thought that the show that regularly features alcoholism, violence, and morally dubious behavior couldn’t get any darker you would be wrong. The new trailer, which you can watch below, gives us our first look at the even more twisted adventures of Rick and Smith family.
The trailer was released during the recent Rick & Morty live stream hosted by co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. Harmon was apologetic about the delay of the third season which will debut more than a year and a half after the end of the second season. He also confirmed that a fourth season was already in the works.
Earlier this year Adult Swim gave us a taste of the new season when they released the first of the 14 episodes months early on April 1st. The season premier which resolved season two’s cliffhanger ending was released with very little fanfare from Adult Swim. They began streaming the episode quietly seemingly at the behest of a random twitter user.

Unfortunately, the episode is no longer available from Adult Swim, but you can still find it in the random corners of the internet. A month is still a pretty long time to wait so Adult Swim is inviting fans to enjoy a marathon of the first two seasons while they wait. You can also try to get your fix in Rocket League, starting next week Rick & Morty custom items will be included in common drops for both online and offline matches.
