Rockstar’s classic detective thriller will return to consoles with special enhancements for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X and be their first VR title.
L.A. Noire was originally released in 2011 but Rockstar has polished it up for a new generation of consoles. They will release the game again for PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch with a few added enhancements for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X owners. Rockstar has also redesigned several of the cases in the game specifically for a VR experience. The remastered version will be available November 14, 2017.
The new version of the game will include the original game along with all the DLC and has been enhanced for the new generation of consoles. If you are not familiar, LA Noire follows the story of Police Detective Cole Phelps who is investigating an escalating series of crimes inspired by real-world events in 1940’s Los Angeles.
Rockstar has made technical enhancements for greater visual fidelity and authenticity, including enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, and higher resolution. The remasted LA Noire will play natively in 1080p for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles and in full 4K for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.
LA Noire: The VR Case Files for the HTC Vive will include seven of the game’s original case files to investigate and solve. This will be Rockstar’s first VR game and perhaps a test for future Rockstar titles. GTA perhaps?
The VR experiment isn’t the only big news in this announcement. Rockstar is making LA Noire available on the Switch as well. This will mark the first time in eight years that a Rockstar title has graced a Nintendo console. Several enhancements have been made to make the most out of the Switch’s unique design including Joy-Con mode with gyroscopic, gesture-based controls, HD rumble and new wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles, plus contextual touch screen controls for portable detective work.
LA Noire is currently available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 and will be available November 14th for the HTC Vive, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox.
